Job Title: Principal Fire Engineer

Location: Remote OR Hybrid from our offices in Manchester/London

Bureau Veritas is looking for a Principal Fire Engineer to join our team of industry leading experts, providing high quality technical guidance and innovative solutions for a diverse client base.

The role will involve providing comprehensive fire engineering services throughout all stages of building design, construction and operation ensuring the current standards and codes of practice are used throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivery of fire consultancy services along with fire strategy reports with minimal support from associate engineers:
  • Delivery of specialised reports.
  • Project team role: Lead, Project Director
  • Mentor and provide technical fire safety advice to junior members of the team.
  • Undertake leadership responsibilities on larger projects/framework
  • Respond to clients in a timely manner
  • Engage with challenging clients in a professional manner under pressure
  • Display an excellent record of commercial awareness and responsibility:
  • Undertake business development responsibilities when applicable.
  • Review and approve fee proposals.
  • Contribute to the weekly technical CPD with relevant topic presentations.
  • Attend management and leadership meetings as required and contribute feedback for team growth and development.

Candidate requirements include:

  • Degree in Fire Engineering or equivalent engineering qualification. A Masters in Fire Engineering or Engineering will be an advantage
  • Significant experience in fire engineering
  • Excellent understanding of UK legislation, standards and guidance, such as Building Regulations – Approved Document B, BS 9999, BS 9991, BS 7974, Scottish guidance
  • Experience of site visits/inspection for existing buildings and during construction
  • Effective communication skills
  • Customer focused and strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and good report writing skills
  • Strives to improve performance and uses innovative methods to get there
  • Up to date CPD records and working towards achieving IFE chartership.
  • Have extensive experience with HRBs
