If you are passionate about making a difference, then join our industry-leading Energy team in leading the change. We are seeking a Principal/Senior HV Plant Engineer in our Energy Team. This is an exciting opportunity to participate in a wide variety of projects across various technical disciplines with clients across the country, including HVDC, interconnectors, windfarms, substations, OHL, geotechnical solutions, building design, protection systems, LVAC, FEED, new builds, refurbishment works, and connection schemes. The role is to work as part of the HV team for electrical substation design projects, closely collaborating with other disciplines and supporting/leading FEED design and detailed design for substation refurbishment/extensions and new-build projects. Ideally you will have experience working with key T&D clients in the UK. This is an opportunity to contribute to the UK energy transition within a growing and collaborative team.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of the HV team on electrical substation design projects; support/lead FEED design and detailed design for refurbishment/extensions and new-build projects.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines and engage with clients to develop innovative and sustainable solutions.
  • Coach and work within the wider energy team; contribute to knowledge sharing and industry best practices.
  • Engage in projects across HV portfolio and with a variety of clients to drive efficiency and environmental outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related technical field).
  • Experience as HV Substation / Primary Plant Design Engineer; experience in design and specification production for HV Substation plant electrical power systems and associated components.
  • Understanding of Protection & Control (P&C) aspects is preferable.
  • Pro-active, with knowledge of the electricity transmission and distribution industry; ability to coach and collaborate within the energy team.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt; suitable for individuals from various technical backgrounds; Stantec will provide development, support and training.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related technical field.
