Project Engineer - Electrical

MWH Treatment is seeking to strengthen our Delivery team with an Electrical Project Engineer based at Burham, with hybrid working options available. You will report directly to the Project Manager and assist the Proposal, Project, and Construction Managers in coordinating effective and economical plant design and procurement strategies. Your responsibilities will include ensuring timely information issuance to enable construction, commissioning, and operational handover in line with the contract programme, as well as providing cost data for forecasts and evaluation of variations.

Key responsibilities will include:

  1. Ensuring project costs do not exceed tender or varied allowances.
  2. Submitting all applications for payment on or before their due dates.
  3. Completing and submitting contract reviews and monthly forecasts on time.
  4. Maintaining good client relationships at all levels.
  5. Assisting with the Project Management strategy.
  6. Establishing and maintaining contract filing systems.
  7. Assisting in producing the contract programme, monitoring progress, and generating reports.
  8. Providing data for the timely production of O&M manuals.
  9. Liaising with subcontractors, suppliers, and site management on design and procurement issues.
  10. Monitoring subcontractor performance.
  11. Assisting in preparing construction completion and takeover documentation.
  12. Continuously developing professional skills through external networking, conferences, and associations.
  13. Maintaining a positive, solution-oriented approach and providing honest feedback.
  14. Undertaking other duties, training, or hours as reasonably required.
  15. Representing the department professionally in all internal and external contacts and maintaining constructive relationships.
  16. Ensuring confidentiality is maintained.
  17. Working closely with design departments to ensure timely development of quality solutions.
  18. Evaluating innovative solutions and processes.
  19. Contributing to monthly risk and opportunity schedules.
  20. Ensuring designs are safe to construct, operate, and maintain.
  21. Completing the capitalisation process and adhering to governance, budgeting, risk management, project planning, digital delivery, procurement, solutions development, stakeholder management, resource management, change management, and quality management processes.
  22. Demonstrating behavioral competencies such as communication, collaboration, client focus, results orientation, integrity, trust, respect, coaching, feedback, and leadership.

Minimum requirements include a basic engineering background, knowledge of various contract conditions (especially NEC), an engineering/technical qualification (minimum HNC in Electrical), experience in supply chain expedition, knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes, and CDM & health & safety knowledge. Desirable qualifications include relevant professional certifications and a collaborative approach.
