About The Role
Days of Working: Monday - Friday 08:30am to 17:30pm
The PFI Health and Education business unit is urgently seeking an experienced Project / Works Manager on a temporary basis to cover an unplanned absence and a short-term surge in workload. This role involves coordinating a high volume of small works projects—primarily decorating and minor building fabric repairs—across a diverse portfolio of School and Community Hospital contracts. The position requires significant travel across sites from Tyne and Wear to Willesden, and from Wolverhampton to Norwich, with overnight stays likely.
As part of your role, your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Preparing and reviewing Construction Phase Plans (CPPs), Risk Assessments, and Method Statements.
- Attending sites to set contractors to work and ensure safe project initiation.
- De-risking sites through effective contractor scheduling and project phasing.
- Ensuring compliance with CDM regulations across all works.
- Inspecting ongoing works and addressing any quality or safety concerns, including maintaining project health and safety files.
- Proven experience in contractor control and managing small works projects.
- Strong working knowledge of CDM regulations, including experience preparing CPPs.
- CITB SSSTS or SMSTS qualification (highly desirable).
- Ability to travel extensively and stay overnight as required.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills, with a proactive approach to health and safety.
