Overview

We are currently looking for a Real-World Evidence Assistant to join our Scientific Data & Insight Function within the Safety and Surveillance group. This is a full-time, permanent role based in London (10 South Colonnade, Canary Wharf, London, E14 4PU). The role is UK-based and not overseas.

Working Arrangements

This role supports a flexible, hybrid way of working with a minimum of 8 days per month on site, subject to business needs. Attendance can flex up to 12 days per month for collaboration with partners and stakeholders. Some roles may require more frequent on-site presence.

About MHRA

The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) enhances and protects public health through regulation of medicines and medical devices, underpinned by science and research. The Safety & Surveillance portfolio focuses on identifying, assessing and managing risks associated with medical products. The Scientific Data & Insight (SD&I) function develops in-house expertise to deliver evidence for regulatory science. High-quality, timely data and in-house analysis underpin rapid regulatory decision making.

Role Purpose

The Real-World Evidence Assistant will support delivery of MHRA’s Real-World Evidence Scientific Dialogue Programme and other real-world data and evidence initiatives within SD&I. The post holder will manage and monitor mailboxes, provide timely guidance to stakeholders, and coordinate programme meetings and the application review process. They will work across the Agency, liaising with partners across the UK health data ecosystem and key stakeholders, and will report to the Real-World Evidence Specialist.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Real-World Evidence Scientific Dialogue Programme and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Assist on real-world data/evidence initiatives, such as the Data, Methodology and Endpoint Qualification (DMEQ) Process and internal research projects using data from multiple sources.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with external stakeholders and collaborate with internal teams (epidemiologists, regulatory assessors, operational teams).
  • Filter, prioritise and re-route incoming requests; make decisions and take appropriate actions independently where possible.

Qualification and Skills

  • Experience communicating directly with stakeholders and building relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Degree level education in a science-based, public health, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to produce well-constructed scientific/technical summaries and explain complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Strong organisational skills; ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and operate with a degree of autonomy.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate clearly and succinctly.

Security and Eligibility

  • Successful candidates must undergo a criminal record check and baseline personnel security standard checks.
  • Applicants will be subject to UK immigration requirements and Civil Service nationality rules. Some roles require vaccinations or health surveillance, and there are checks related to internal fraud and IFD disclosures.
  • Disclosures may apply to pre-employment screening and childcare voucher eligibility changes when moving to the MHRA.

Benefits and Salary

  • Salary: £36,395 plus £10,543 pension contribution to the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.
  • Annual Leave: 25 days on entry, rising to 30 days with service, plus 8 bank holidays. Pro-rata for part-time staff.
