Recruitment Officer

New Today

Overview

The challenges humanity is facing aren’t the stuff of dystopia, science fiction, or textbooks. They’re happening today – and they’ve never been more complex and interconnected. Yet our higher education system is still structured in silos, leaving graduates ill-equipped to tackle the complexity that surrounds them. The next generation is now demanding to learn in a different way. That’s where The London Interdisciplinary School comes in. LIS is a start-up university that equips learners with an interdisciplinary toolkit to tackle the complex, real-world problems of the 21st century. With a world-class faculty, three exceptional founding cohorts and close partnerships with global organisations such as McKinsey, KPMG and innocent, LIS is building a new type of education for those who want to shape the world, not just fit in. We are the first new UK education institution for 50 years to have full degree-awarding power since inception, and offer undergraduate, masters, as well as professional development programmes that take a ground-breaking interdisciplinary approach to education.

Role Summary

The purpose of this role is to identify, support, and, ultimately, convert leads across our portfolio of programmes (BASc, MASc, LIS MBA) into applicants and enrolees. The skills you will develop in this role include customer service, consultative sales, managing email sends, organising data in our CRM systems and much more. You'll also be able to help shape the strategy as you go as we increase our core number of students, expand our international recruitment efforts, and grow our portfolio of programmes. This role also offers a great step into the life of start ups.

LIS student Recruitment principles

High touch – we will be in regular contact with qualified contacts, understanding their motivations, barriers, and personal context.

Human centric – we will take an individualised approach to engagement, favouring personalised connection over automated outreach.

Focussed – we will concentrate our resources on contacts who have the highest likelihood of successfully joining the cohort.

Agile – we will be flexible in our approach – failing fast, learning lessons, and pivoting tactics when required.

Community driven – we will amplify our efforts by engaging the whole LIS community – staff, students, faculty, alumni, prospects, and partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • 1:1 outreach to leads across the portfolio of programmes, via telephone, email, and face-to-face activities.
  • Lead scoring potential applicants/ students to prioritise leads, assess the health of the pipeline, and inform marketing tactics.
  • Being the primary point of contact for some of our offer-holders, including building individual relationships with each offer holder, keeping them updated on programme information, and answering any questions they may have.
  • Effectively leveraging existing students for insights, event support, and community building (e.g. the buddy system).
  • Representing the portfolio at both internal and external events, including the potential for international travel.
  • Actively contributing to how we market the portfolio, including development of the LIS website, prospectuses, and digital communications

Notes

Role to include but not restricted to the tasks detailed here. LIS is a start-up and all employees may be asked to help out or get involved with different parts of MR&A or the organisation at any time.
