Overview

Residential Property Lawyer role at John Hodge Solicitors. Location: Weston-super-Mare / Bristol and Somerset (as indicated in the description).

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Partners with the supervision of more junior lawyers within the Residential Property Department.
  • Assisting the Partners with marketing initiatives and business development to raise their own profile and that of the Residential Property Department.
  • Running a busy caseload with a wide variety of residential property work, such as freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, first registrations, remortgages and transfers of equity from inception to post-completion.
  • Regular client contact, including face-to-face meetings.
  • Tailoring advice and skills to act in each client’s best interests.
  • Ensuring client work is progressed expeditiously and clients are kept regularly informed on progress.
  • Having overall responsibility for day-to-day cash management on own matter balances with support from the cash office team.
  • Maintaining electronic and physical files to stay compliant and up to date.
  • Preparing correspondence and documents using Microsoft Office.
  • Ensuring the confidentiality and security of all client documentation and information on your matters.

Desirable Qualifications, Skills And Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ PQE.
  • Evidence of CPD including AML training.
  • Experience managing own caseload and handling matters from instruction to conclusion within a busy Residential Property Department.
  • Strong communication and client care skills across telephone, written, and face-to-face interactions.
  • Initiative, flexibility, and proactive support to the Department and wider office team.
  • Strong organisational skills to manage workload and diary.
  • Attention to detail and excellent typing skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and a Case Management System.
  • Team player with ability to work autonomously.
  • Passion for law and strong work ethic.
  • Availability to work Monday–Friday 9:00–17:15 and Saturday Clinics 9:00–13:00 on a rota basis up to 4 times a year.
  • Full, clean driving licence.
