Overview

Senior Advisor - Future Agriculture - Environmental Land Management (31666). This role is based in England with flexible/hybrid working arrangements and some travel may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advice in meetings, manage commissions, and oversee Programme milestones; identify future risks and resource requirements.
  • Work across teams and organisations with senior leaders to articulate a scheme that supports and delivers outcomes within the Environment Agency and the wider ELRelm reforms.
  • Contribute to delivering and improving the Countryside Stewardship Higher Tier (CSHT) and other ELM programme products within the Farming and Countryside Programme.
  • Influence the design and delivery of incentives within the wider context of shaping organisational response to government reviews, and support reform in water, the environment and climate.
  • Represent EA expertise to Defra, delivery bodies and the agriculture sector to achieve consistency and improve collaboration across organisations.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience of Agriculture and working with Defra and other statutory bodies is essential.
  • Politically aware with excellent communication and networking skills.
  • Understanding of environmental sensitivities associated with significant agriculture sector reform.
  • Experience interpreting/evaluating evidence to propose effective risk-based solutions for challenging problems.
  • Ability to prioritise and deliver complex work; self-starter who actively develops and takes ideas forward.

Location and Working Arrangements

EA Office base location is flexible; this is a national role with hybrid working in England. Some travel/overnights will be required. The team uses smart tools to stay connected and reduce travel.
