The Role
SSE Renewables has an ambitious goal — to triple our renewable generation output to 30TWh by 2030. Achieving this means success in competitive auction processes across the UK, Ireland and international markets. As Senior Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in this success, driving innovative analysis and strategy that underpin winning bids for some of the largest renewable projects in the world. In this exciting and fast‑paced role, you’ll help shape our bid strategies across multiple technologies — from offshore and onshore wind to future solar and hydro developments — ensuring that every bid is commercially robust, data‑driven, and designed to create maximum long‑term value.
You will
- Develop in‑house models and dashboards across regions and technologies to analyse electricity markets and competitors.
- Provide detailed commercial analysis and insights to maximise value from the asset portfolio.
- Investigate competitive landscapes for tenders (CfD, Capacity Market, NESO), modelling auction dynamics and performing probability analyses to inform strategy.
- Collaborate across technical, financial, and commercial teams to identify improvement opportunities and optimise market strategies.
- Support governance, reporting, and presentations for executives while championing innovation, continuous improvement, and a commercial culture.
You have
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills with experience in Python, Excel modelling, and Power BI dashboards.
- Deep commercial acumen with understanding of market and auction dynamics, able to perform probabilistic analysis in dynamic environments.
- Ability to interpret and reconcile multiple data sources, presenting results clearly and concisely.
- Solid financial modelling skills, understanding revenue‑cost trade‑offs, risks, sensitivities, and project design implications.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, collaborative mindset, with a degree in Economics, Maths, Business, Accounting, or related field; experience in game theory or auction modelling is desirable.
