Location: Global Headquarters in Cambridge, and London, Manchester and Bristol offices (hybrid working options available).

Overview

Costello Medical is growing its Medical Communications team to meet demand from new and existing clients. We are seeking candidates with experience in medical communications who enjoy content delivery and project management to join us as Senior Analysts and Senior Medical Writers. Senior Analysts and Senior Medical Writers take a leading role across projects, ensuring client deliverables are created to a high standard, on time, and within agreed budgets. They provide strategic advice at project initiation, supervise the project team, and maintain regular client interaction. They are central to quality control, including reviewing colleagues’ work and giving constructive feedback.

Responsibilities

  • You will lead diverse Medical Communications projects within a skilled project team to deliver high-quality work to clients.
  • Review junior colleagues' work for accuracy and quality; plan and oversee projects.
  • Support business development by cultivating and sustaining client relationships and identifying opportunities to offer additional services within existing projects.
  • As you progress, you may manage client relationships, budgets, and project finances, and line manage interns within the team.
  • Collaborate across sub-teams on Publications (publication planning, manuscript production, abstract development) and Medical Affairs (advisory boards, medical information materials, congress support, medical education materials).

About the Role

Senior Analysts and Senior Medical Writers play a leading role across projects, working to ensure client deliverables meet high standards and agreed timelines. They provide strategic advice to clients at project initiation, supervise the project team, and engage with clients regularly. They are central to quality control, including reviewing colleagues' work and providing constructive feedback.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Typically 2+ years of professional experience within an agency setting in medical communications.
  • Delivery of medical communications projects (publications, medical affairs, or both).
  • Experience communicating directly with clients and leading project teams, including task delegation and time management.
  • A degree in a scientific discipline (minimum 2.1).
  • Strong written English, attention to detail, and high level of scientific writing skills; ability to tailor writing style to different audiences.
  • Project management skills enabling timely delivery; strong data presentation skills using Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to provide clinical content recommendations and maintain excellent client service under multiple demands.
  • Proven ability to build robust client relationships and to motivate colleagues as a team leader.
