The Opportunity
We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Senior Architectural Technician to join our Consulting team.
The Role
As a Senior Architectural Technician you will provide multi‑discipline support and coordination on projects through all RIBA stages, taking project delivery leadership at the detail design stage. You will also ensure governance processes are followed and have experience in technical assurance.
Responsibilities
Have strong technical background in detailed design and delivery of multidisciplinary projects.
Manage coordination between disciplines and maintain a good understanding of discipline activities.
Complete the delivery of the design/specification process through to tender document production, including design elements.
Be conversant with Planning and Building Regulation approval processes to deliver design packages at relevant RIBA stages.
Review available building condition surveys, establish categorisation and approach to a project, prepare designs, schedules of work and specifications, and manage design information coordination with other disciplines and external providers.
Provision and/or assessment of initial budget cost information and input into overall programme development.
Assess requirement for and prepare CDM design risk assessments as required.
Support design process in accordance with the Integrated Management System.
Ensure all required client sign‑offs and authorities are obtained throughout the project lifecycle.
Contribute to preparation of applications and obtain statutory consents as required.
Complete design information and prepare tender document packages including Pre Construction Information packages.
Create building designs and detailed drawings using specialist CAD applications.
Liaise with construction professionals and contractors.
Work around constraining factors such as town planning legislation, environmental impact and project budget.
Adapt plans according to circumstances and resolve any problems that arise during project delivery.
Travel regularly to building sites, proposed locations and client meetings.
What You Will Bring To Us
Experience in various design applications including AutoCAD, Revit, Micro‑Station, SketchUp & BIM.
Experience delivering projects under various contract forms and conditions (e.g., Design and Build).
Knowledge of Building Regulations, Planning, H&S and other legislation.
Demonstrable post‑graduate/training experience in various design environments including Commercial, Transport, Education, Government (MOD/MOJ).
Computer literate and thoroughly conversant with MS Office suite.
Fully conversant in remote communication systems such as Microsoft Teams.
Understanding of H&S legislation and particularly CDM Regulations.
Ability to obtain MOD Baseline Security Clearance and MOJ clearance.
Desirable
Member of CIAT (Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists).
Experience of using NBS and other relevant design/CA software.
Experience of using Bentley Microstation.
Experience in the Rail or light Rail sector.
Experience of using ProjectWise.
