We are currently looking for Senior Payroll Associates to join our growing UK Payroll Operate in either Newcastle Upon Tyne, Manchester or Belfast! This is an excellent opportunity to join our fast-growing payroll team within EY. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the successful candidate will be part of a team with responsibility for the successful payroll implementation or delivery of payroll services for new and existing clients. You will need to ensure all payrolls are executed to a high standard, manage stakeholders, report on internal EY metrics and build positive relationships across the firm.

Your key responsibilities

  • Process payroll data accurately and on time, including new joiners, leavers, statutory payments, and compliance with regulations.
  • Review payrolls and client communications prepared by Associates to ensure complete accuracy and quality.
  • Monitor the client mailbox and respond promptly to payroll-related queries.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and guidance to junior Associates and clients.
  • Handle engagement financials, including billing, reconciliation, and revenue tracking.
  • Coach and train Associates, identifying skill gaps and supporting development through feedback and training.
  • Participate in process improvements, system testing, and internal quality and risk management activities.

Skills and attributes for success

What we look for

  • Significant end-to-end payroll processing experience and knowledge
  • Experience with Iris payroll software
  • Able to manage workload and meet deadlines
  • Excellent IT Skills and highly competent with Word, Excel and Outlook

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • CIPP or alternative payroll qualification
  • Previous experience in a Big 4 firm of payroll bureau is desirable
