Your Mission

As a Civil Engineer you will be part of a multi‑disciplinary engineering team supporting operations and future programs at client sites. You will work alongside Mechanical, Building Services, and Electrical Engineers to author, develop, assess, and maintain Engineering Design Substantiation, ensuring Design Intent, Critical Safety Functions, and Safety and Operational Requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, assess, and manage Design Substantiation documents.
  • Lead the control of design changes and concessions.
  • Present design substantiations to safety committees.
  • Produce and maintain EIMT schedules, procedures, and records.
  • Prepare and review Periodic Review of Safety reports.
  • Provide expert engineering advice to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct Independent Technical and Peer Reviews (ITA/IPR).
  • Integrate emerging technologies in high‑risk/nuclear environments.
  • Deliver robust technical justifications for civil/structural design changes in safety‑critical contexts.

Essential Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in design assessment for reinforced concrete and steelwork structures, including dynamic loads (earthquakes, blasts, wind, rain, snow).
  • Proven ability to produce technical justifications for civil/structural design modifications in high‑hazard industries.
  • Skilled in applying theoretical and practical methods to design, develop, and manage engineering processes in nuclear/high‑risk environments.
  • Strong foundation in general and specialist engineering knowledge, using both existing and emerging technologies.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience in a similar nuclear environment.
  • Familiarity with safety case development techniques such as HAZID/HAZOP studies.
  • Civil/Structural Engineering degree.
  • Incorporated or equivalent engineering experience.
  • Chartered engineer status or equivalent.

Employment Details

Location: Glasgow, Scotland. Full‑time. Hybrid work: 2–3 days in office, remainder from home. Requires Scottish Certificate (SC) to start and British National status.
