Overview

An exceptional and modern Chartered Accountants is on the lookout for a NEW Accounting & Business Services Manager in Kent. This position will see you lead client account preparation, manage teams, and ensure compliance with technical standards and deadlines. You’ll handle complex financial matters, maintain strong client relationships, and provide advisory services that support business growth.

This role is Monday–Friday 37.5hrs with a hybrid working structure. Salary is dependent on experience/qualifications. Higher salaries can be discussed.

Duties

  • Lead and review client account preparation and ensure timely delivery
  • Manage and mentor junior team members, assigning challenging work and supporting development
  • Respond to client queries with minimal input from others
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of clients’ businesses, objectives, and risks
  • Support flexible working arrangements based on client needs and deadlines
  • Review WIP monthly and ensure accurate billing and provision for doubtful time
  • Contribute to winning new work through proposals, fee quotes, and client tenders
  • Deliver departmental training and share technical knowledge with the team
  • Stay up to date with technical developments and identify advisory opportunities
  • Take ownership of departmental development initiatives and workflow planning
  • Ensure accurate timesheet posting and challenge unusual non-chargeable entries
  • Participate in recruitment and support team management tasks such as holiday approvals
  • Champion new technologies and lead implementation to improve efficiency
  • Hold year-end accounts meetings and identify cross-selling opportunities
  • Prepare and review consolidated accounts and identify basic consolidation adjustments
  • Prepare 3-way cashflow forecasts and interpret working capital ratios
  • Advise on VAT partial exemption/reverse charge entries and remuneration planning
  • Provide commercial interpretation of accounts and suggest group loss relief strategies

What we're looking for

A successful candidate for this role will be able to demonstrate very strong prior UK Practice experience with exposure to duties named above, be fully qualified in a recognised chartered qualification and live within a 1hr commute of Maidstone.
