The role

Connect - Global Account Management

  • This position is for a Senior Commercial Accounting Analyst (Junior Finance Business Partner) for Retainers, providing support to the Senior Finance Manager (SFM) within the commercial finance function.
  • The primary purpose is to assist the SFM and the Partnership in analysing and reviewing performance across key clients within the Connect Group, delivering real-time support to Partners and the leadership team, and supporting business decision-making, KPI and profitability improvements, plus contributing to strategic initiatives.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to drive efficiency, cost savings and productivity.
  • Collaborate with Connect Group colleagues; strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines are essential.

Key responsibilities

As part of the Commercial Finance team of around 20, you will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Month-end process: ensure accounting entries are correct, create journals, produce monthly reporting packs, P&L reviews and variance analysis
  • Primary point of contact for finance-related queries from your teams; act as a trusted advisor to the leadership team
  • Write commentary for business performance reports; host regular Partner Performance Reviews
  • Analytical support for Finance Managers and Business Stakeholders
  • Budgeting, planning and forecasting
  • Prepare and deliver daily financial updates to stakeholders and wider finance team on KPIs
  • Support quality control, streamline processes and ensure best practices
  • Timely query management; collaborate with Connect Group
  • Manage stakeholder expectations; support SFM and Firm on projects
  • Coordinate with financial control to ensure alignment of processes

Skills and experience

  • Part-qualified or newly qualified accountant with financial control experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders
  • Experience building and delivering PowerPoint presentations; ability to present to senior stakeholders concisely
  • Proven client-facing and organisational skills in a professional environment
  • Strong analytical skills with large data sets; advanced Excel capabilities
  • Aggressive in driving service quality under tight deadlines; client-focused and collaborative
  • Knowledge of cube-based reporting systems desirable; XLCubed experience preferred; Power BI advantageous
  • Ability to manage multiple ad-hoc requests within tight timescales
  • Reliable, proactive, with a can-do attitude; willing to take ownership
  • Strong forward-planning and proactive thinking; excellent verbal and written communication
  • Team player; attention to detail; self-starter with minimal supervision
  • Ability to build strong working relationships within Finance and across the business
