Senior Commercial Manager – Boeing
Location: Bristol, UK. Hybrid working, 3 days in office per week. Employment type: Full-time.
Introduction: An exciting opportunity has become available to join Boeing Defence United Kingdom (BDUK) as a Senior Commercial Manager. This role is full-time based in Bristol. The role sits within the BDUK Fixed Wing Programme Commercial Team, reporting to the Fixed Wing Head of Commercial. The Fixed Wing business comprises projects focused on sustainment and support to the P-8, E-7 and C-17 aircraft with ongoing growth activities and long-term contracted programmes.
About the role: This is a senior-level, non-line management role within the team. Principal responsibilities include the following.
- Reviewing, interpreting and drafting terms and conditions, including highly complex ones.
- Comprehensive contract management duties – routine activities and addressing programme problems to resolve or mitigate them.
- Developing and reviewing statements of work.
- Leading and participating in contract change and contract tasking proposal development, negotiation and award activities.
- Developing and supporting cost estimates and determining profit or earnings objectives.
- Performing and approving risk assessments to balance risks and opportunities.
- Reviewing and approving proposals and other products developed by peers.
- Reviewing and approving other agreements with outside parties.
- Understanding, implementing and adhering to BDUK Commercial policies/procedures and ensuring compliance with Corporate Policies/Procedures and all applicable statutes and standards.
- Submitting offers and contractually committing the company within permitted delegated authority.
- Participating in and leading internal governance, including bid/no-bid and make/buy boards, and establishing processes internally with the Commercial Team and other programmes or functions.
A Senior Commercial Manager is expected to have a thorough understanding of programme and financial contractual performance for contracts and to develop recommendations and solutions while influencing effective decision-making to meet business goals. The role works alongside contract delivery and proposal team members and customer counterparts; developing and maintaining respectful and effective working relationships is critical. Within a matrix organisation, Commercial roles in programme and proposal teams are recognised as influential business partners with a proactive approach to securing successful outcomes. Technical expertise is required in Contract Formation, Contract Management Systems, Contract Structure Knowledge, Negotiation, Estimating Methods, Proposal Processes, Risk & Opportunity Management, Business Case Development, and understanding and applying applicable legislation, regulation and standards.

Preferred qualifications and experience:
- Excellent customer relationship management
- Leadership experience on complex projects or teams
- WCC (formerly IACCM) qualification or relevant experience
- Knowledge of defence contracting and terms & conditions – drafting, interpretation and negotiation
- Strong understanding of Single Source Contract Regulations
- Experience in bidding in competition

- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multifaceted environment and in a matrix organisation
- Ability to work under supervision and independently

- 7+ years’ experience in a multinational global company environment and UK defence expertise (desirable)
Work Authorisation: This requisition is for a locally hired position in the UK. Candidates must have current legal authorisation to work immediately in the United Kingdom. Boeing will not attempt to obtain immigration or labour sponsorship for any applicants. Benefits and pay are determined locally and are not part of Boeing U.S.-based payroll.
Security Clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain a UK security clearance; UK residency is required.
Location: Bristol, UK. Hybrid working, 3 days in office per week.
Relocation: This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
This position is subject to contract.
