Senior Consultant - Delay at Turner & Townsend

Job Description

You will be involved in delivering:

• our Expert Witness services, by assisting our delay experts in delivering expert delay reports for adjudication, litigation, and other forms of dispute resolution; and
• our Recovery service by assisting our contract and commercial specialists in providing strategic advice to clients whose projects and major programmes are in commercial distress.

Successful applicants will work in a team undertaking detailed analysis of construction projects in the UK and internationally. We are looking for a motivated individual to join an experienced team of construction experts with a strong brand across our marketplace.

Turner & Townsend seeks a talented Senior Consultant who is experienced in matters of delay and/or commercial management to support our Recovery and Expert Witness teams. The successful individual will have opportunities to develop their career through mentoring, learning options and the chance to contribute to strategic objectives with the aim to become an Expert Witness as part of the dispute resolution process or to lead on our Recovery service.

The work will require a high standard and the ability to withstand scrutiny by other parties. The successful applicant will:

• be able to work independently and adapt to the working methods of others

With an established global presence, our UK team supports some of the most complex projects and programmes globally. The majority of our practice can be delivered remotely; the role anticipates the candidate will work from a local office as a base to support UK team cohesion, with a flexible approach to meet client deliverables.

Qualifications

• Relevant construction and engineering industry experience (typically +7 years)
• A construction-related degree and/or legal qualification
• Experience in developing and pursuing claims up or down the supply chain
• Ability to understand and articulate client requirements and desired outcomes
• Ability to critically analyse project and major programme performance and identify root causes of distress
• Ability to review and assess contemporaneous project records to establish delay related to claims and/or disputes
• Working knowledge of project management and planning tools (e.g., Primavera P6, Asta Powerproject, TILOS, CEMAR, Excel)
• Contribute to client meetings
• Assist clients, lawyers and counsel in developing positions as required
• Support the drafting of detailed expert witness reports for use in formal dispute resolution
• Support colleagues with project deliverables
• Undertake research and development of emerging industry technologies
• Stay abreast of developments within own technical area of expertise
• Provide direction to staff working with you on specific tasks
• Support interface with the client and other consultants at all project stages
• Act as an ambassador championing the Contract Services delivered by Turner & Townsend in the industry
