Overview

Senior Civil Design Engineer – Wakefield (full-time, permanent). Based from home with an office in Wakefield. This role oversees the design phase of multiple Major projects, supporting the Design Manager and providing technical support to stakeholders across the business. Our Major Projects typically involve electrical and civil designs for ICP connections, private networks and renewable energy projects.

Responsibilities

  • Design checks on all construction, civil or electrical drawings issued by designers and contractors.
  • Minor design amendments and AutoCAD work as needed.
  • Delivery design phase of projects up to 400 kV with appropriate use of specialist contractors.
  • Escalate to manager any risks or nonconformances.
  • Manage day-to-day activities of design contractors working on assigned projects.
  • Be the main point of contact for clients for all design-related issues.
  • Manage validation of contractor invoices against programme and contract within limits of delegated authority.
  • Maintain positive cashflow and escalate any financial variation from contract or PO to design manager.

About You

  • This role is suitable for someone with experience in a design role with knowledge of electricity, power distribution systems, or renewables industry.
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar and experience managing the design phase of projects from tender through to construction.
  • Excellent communication skills with high attention to detail.
