An exciting opportunity has arisen for a driven and dynamic Dietitian to join our team of over 65 Dietetic staff at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The post is a permanent contract dedicated to the dietetic support of the Adult Critical Care patients at King’s College Hospital (Denmark Hill site). You will be managed by the clinical lead specialist in Critical Care (Band 8a) and Critical Care dietitians (3.0 WTE Band 7) on supporting dietetic services for critically ill patients.

The Senior Dietitian for Critical Care will be expected to work within a consultant led service and be responsible for the dietetic management of all patients within adult critical care, providing a comprehensive dietetic service to critically ill adult patients. This post will be supported by an 8a Critical Care Clinical Lead Dietitian and three Band 7 Critical Care Dietitians. The post holder will provide expert advice and guidance for other healthcare professionals, including attending ward rounds and meetings, and will be actively involved with local strategic service planning groups. The Senior Dietitian will develop expertise in the complex management of all critical care patients and liaise with the critical care medical, nursing and MDT teams. The post holder will be actively involved with teaching of doctors, nurses and MDT members of critical care and will participate in dietetic and multi-disciplinary research and audit.

Responsibilities

  • Provide dietetic management of adult critical care patients within a consultant led service.
  • Deliver a comprehensive dietetic service to critically ill adults and offer expert professional guidance to other healthcare professionals.
  • Attend ward rounds and participate in MDT meetings; contribute to local strategic service planning.
  • Develop expertise in complex critical care management and liaise with medical, nursing and MDT teams.
  • Teach doctors, nurses and MDT members; participate in dietetic and multidisciplinary research and audit.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience as a Dietitian with the ability to develop clinical skills in critical care.
  • Ability to work within a large, dynamic Critical Care service and contribute to teaching and research.
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills to provide expert dietetic guidance.

Location and Status

Based at the Denmark Hill site; Band 6 0.8 WTE Critical Care Dietitian post is part of the team; Senior Dietitian role supports the Critical Care service at King’s.
