Job Title: Senior Electrical Project Engineer

Reports to: Project Manager (Engineering)

Location: London - Heathrow

Contract Type: Permanent

Introduction to role: This role is required for our UK based Airports projects. The UK&I strategy is to improve knowledge sharing with VOICE Engineering through learning and project support, developing to the local resource that manages multiple Airports projects and sites. There will be regular customer liaison and some on-site presence during project installation phases, so this is not a remote position. The role is hybrid as per the Vanderlande Employee Handbook and suits someone who is technical, methodical and capable of clear work parameter definition, adherence to standards and procedures, and structured teamwork.

The role involves routine tasks, seeing a job through to conclusion, and working in a logical, systematic manner.

The position calls for a professional, quality‑minded individual who can manage clearly defined work parameters and follow standards and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Studying the order file and reporting feasibility of requirements and regulations to the Project Leader Engineering (PLE).
  • Agreeing, in consultation with the PLE, the necessary engineering activities for deliverables and planning details.
  • Reporting progress and deviations of worked hours to the PLE.
  • Participating in decision making with all relevant disciplines regarding electrical components and interfaces to be used.
  • Design, specify and calculate the complete electrical controls installation (including power distribution) consisting of cabinets, field wiring, cable trunking and mechanical supports for electrical components.
  • Design and validate power calculations (required max. power), cable calculations for layout drawings and selectivity calculations.
  • Design control drawings and produce information required for manufacturers, installation managers, special design engineers, wiring contractors and the purchase department.
  • Adhere to procedures, standards and regulations in engineering work.
  • Protect the interests of Vanderlande in dealings with customers, suppliers and sub-contractors.
  • Quality control of files and Data Management.
  • Produce engineering instructions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of processes and policies, and continually develop personal professional potential.
  • Contribute to the development of electrical design for industrial installations and low voltage installations.
  • Work with engineering tools such as AutoCAD and EPLAN.

Qualifications

  • Electro-technology / Energy technology qualification ideal.
  • A structured individual with an open approach to design and problem solving.
  • Knowledge of industrial networks such as PROFINET, AS-i, and Profibus.
  • Knowledge of technologies and equipment for Material Handling Systems.
  • Experience in developing electrical designs for industrial installations and low voltage installations.
  • Experience in working with engineering tools like AutoCAD and EPLAN.
