The Role We are looking to grow our capacity on the Midlands SDF contract for National Highways. The role can be based anywhere in the Midlands, including working remotely. You will collaborate with design teams and National Highways clients to build, develop and lead the delivery of Environmental Assessments across all SDF projects. You will provide input to and review of DMRB topics including Biodiversity, Landscape, Cultural Heritage, Waste & Materials, Population and Human Health, Climate and coordinate environmental projects ranging from scoping reports to full assessments. In a Typical Week My Responsibilities Will Include
Line‑manage and mentor junior team members, allocate resources, manage programme of works, implement contractual processes, develop staff and provide technical training. Contribute to budgets and forecast future work. Provide guidance on best methods and practice to meet technical and project requirements through liaison with Amey designers. Stay current with industry best practice. Work closely with ecologists to advise on environmental aspects of projects, including assessments, ecological studies and hazards. Undertake site visits, inspections and surveys to inform project designers across multiple disciplines. Prepare and review technical reports in line with legislation and guidance. Liaise with statutory bodies such as the Environment Agency, Natural England and local authorities.
What We Want From You
Undergraduate degree in Environmental Science or a related subject and at least 6 years of experience delivering environmental assessment reporting within a consultancy setting. Membership of a professional body or relevant qualifications leading to membership. Experience working in a multi‑disciplinary environment and interacting with design teams, clients and stakeholders. Desirable experience of working on infrastructure projects and contractual management. Ability to manage budgets, resources and plan workload to ensure timely and on‑budget delivery.
