We are looking for an experienced investigator to join our National Investigations Team as a Senior Environmental Crime Officer. This role sits within the National Environmental Crime Unit, part of our National Regulation and Monitoring Team. The Senior Environmental Crime Officer will work alongside Senior Investigation Managers and the Major Incident Room to lead investigations into serious environmental crimes, coordinate all aspects of investigations, and drive cases toward successful outcomes.

This is a hybrid role with flexible working from home and an Environment Agency office. Frequent travel for meetings and operational duties is required, and you may respond to incidents as part of your role. Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate major environmental investigations, including identifying lines of enquiry, reviewing intelligence, raising and allocating actions, coordinating evidence gathering and interviews, and preparing case files for prosecution.
• Work with Partnership Organisations and develop investigation teams and complex investigations.
• Collaborate with Senior Investigation Managers and the Major Incident Room to drive investigations forward and develop the team.
• Respond to incidents as required and provide business continuity support during incidents where applicable.

Requirements / Experience

• Strong investigative background with experience of running major investigations, ideally involving Organised Crime Groups, illegal waste exports, or large-scale fraud.
• Knowledge of investigative legislation (PACE, CPIA), excellent verbal and written communication skills, and basic IT competency (Word, Excel, Teams).
• Experience working with investigative teams, leading on investigations, and developing teams; ability to drive and coordinate complex investigations.
• SC and NPPV2 Vetting clearance or the ability to obtain within a 6-month probationary period is required.
• A full driving licence is required.
