Overview

Senior Finance Manager - PFI Expiry role at Wye Valley NHS Trust. An exciting opportunity to oversee the financial management of the PFI Expiry project, working with operational leadership and clinical teams, and being a key part of the Finance Senior Leadership team. The role is based across the main NHS sites in Herefordshire with the option of agile working (on-site and home/remote work) for the right candidate.

Job Responsibilities

  • Take the lead on all financial aspects of the transition from the existing PFI arrangements to the future services model in pursuit of agreed strategic objectives for the project, including financial modelling to assess Value for Money of multiple options.
  • Work closely with the PFI Expiry and Future Facilities Management (FM) service project teams to influence decision making regarding the future FM service provision, ensuring value for money and alignment with the agreed risk profile.
  • Provide leadership and accountable financial management to the project when setting up the services, ensuring compliance with Trust, NHSE, DHSC and Central Government financial governance.
  • Support, challenge and positively influence financial management; collaborate to improve efficiency, effectiveness and the best use of resources.
  • Engage with the CFO, Associate CFO and wider Executive team, supporting career progression and exposure to a wide range of opportunities.

Job Description & Qualifications

  • Essential Education & Qualifications: Professionally qualified as an Accountant with CCAB or CIMA; commitment to continuing professional development; evidence of CPD; further specialist finance training related to wider healthcare finance.
  • Essential Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Expert user of financial systems and Microsoft Excel; ability to influence and persuade; highly numerate and analytical; excellent verbal reasoning; advanced report writing; understanding of current NHS structures and key policies; knowledge of acute hospital and community healthcare environment; ability to lead and motivate staff; ability to prioritise and plan workload effectively.
  • Desirable Experience: NHS experience.
  • Essential Experience: Extensive knowledge and experience in NHS Financial Management or equivalent; significant experience at a senior level in the finance sector; acute sector experience.
