Senior Financial Accountant

Salary: up to £65,000 + potential for permanent conversion. Hybrid working. Immediate start / As soon as possible.

A newly created opportunity has arisen for a technically strong and proactive accountant to lead statutory reporting and compliance for two integrating business units. This is a high-impact role within a transforming finance function, ideal for someone who thrives in complex environments and enjoys building processes from the ground up.

Role Overview

Following recent acquisitions, three finance teams are undergoing integration. This role will focus on statutory accounts preparation for two key divisions, rebuilding processes and ensuring compliance with IFRS and UK tax regulations. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders and auditors, with the opportunity to shape reporting frameworks and contribute to long-term consolidation efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare annual financial statements, statutory reporting, under UK-adopted IFRS, with a focus on IFRS 16 lease accounting. Rebuild and streamline reporting processes across two divisions.
  • Act as the main point of contact for external auditors. Manage audit timelines, deliverables, and communications, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Oversee corporate tax and VAT submissions. Monitor legislative changes and advise on planning and risk mitigation.
  • Draft and review technical papers and memos. Provide guidance on complex accounting issues and new standards.
  • Build relationships across departments to gather information independently. Take initiative in setting up projects and driving execution with minimal oversight.

Skills Required

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with 10+ years’ total experience, including training.
  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS, particularly IFRS 16.
  • Proven experience in statutory reporting, audit management, and UK tax compliance.
  • Confident communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Self-starter with a proactive mindset and ability to work autonomously.

On Offer

This starts as a contract for up to 12 months with a strong possibility of permanent conversion. Flexible with 2–3 days per week in the office.
