Job Title: Senior Group Accountant

Location: Gatwick Based

Salary: £70,000 to £90,000 depending on experience - with clear progression to Financial Controller

Workstyle: Hybrid - 2 days in office / 3 days WFH

psd are working with a growth minded property-led business with a diverse portfolio of development, investment, and asset management. With growth plans spanning the UK, Europe, and beyond, they are seeking a technically strong, commercially minded Senior Financial Accountant with a defined succession plan to Financial Controller in just 12 months.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you’ll take ownership of key accounting responsibilities, including statutory reporting, consolidations, and technical accounting compliance. You will play a critical role in controlling financial processes, supporting strategic decision-making, and preparing to step into the Financial Controller role within a year.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the preparation and filing of statutory accounts compliant with IFRS/UK GAAP.
  • Manage group consolidation processes and ensure accurate, timely month-end close.
  • Own technical accounting matters—including revenue recognition, leases, impairments, and capitalisation.
  • Strengthen internal controls, ensure policy adherence, and partner with external auditors on audit-related matters.
  • Support strategic projects such as acquisitions, system improvements, and financial process enhancements.
  • Collaborate across teams—especially with Operations and Investment—to translate data into insight.
  • Receive tailored mentorship from senior leadership, preparing you for a smooth transition to Financial Controller.

Your Key Skills

  • ACA or ACCA qualified (Big 4 or Tier-1 experience preferred, though exceptional candidates from other backgrounds are encouraged).
  • Strong technical accounting expertise, capable of managing complex reporting and consolidation scenarios.
  • Experience with multi-entity structures in property, real estate, or a related industry is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills—you’re equally confident with Finance leadership and operational colleagues.
  • Sharp eye for detail, process improvement, and a proactive mindset.
  • Advanced Excel and accounting systems know-how, with enthusiasm for efficiency and automation.
  • Hybrid working: 2 days in office, 3 remote.
