Senior Health & Safety Advisor

Salary: £50,000 - £58,000

Are you a Health & Safety Advisor looking for a new role? A leading solutions provider in the water sector is seeking an accomplished Senior Health & Safety Advisor to join their SHEQ team, supporting a high-profile infrastructure programme within the Severn Trent Region.

Based out of their Derby office, this role is crucial in ensuring the successful implementation of robust health and safety practices on a technically complex, multidisciplinary construction project involving civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering works. The successful candidate will foster a strong safety culture, drive compliance, and support the wider cultural transformation across the project.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide expert leadership and guidance in SHEQ procedures, ensuring compliance with legislation and best practices.
• Embed health and safety into all project phases by collaborating with site management, subcontractors, and client representatives.
• Champion a proactive safety culture throughout the project lifecycle.
• Facilitate audits and conduct accident and incident investigations.
• Support development and continual improvement of SHEQ policies, management systems, and risk controls.
• Work closely with project leadership to integrate SHEQ into operational planning.
• Analyze performance metrics, identify trends, and implement targeted improvements.
• Promote sustainable health and safety solutions aligned with project and company objectives.
• Contribute to maintaining and improving externally certified SHEQ management systems.

Candidate Profile:

• Significant experience in a senior health and safety advisory role within complex construction environments.
• Strong understanding of health and safety legislation, codes of practice, and risk management principles.
• Experience building relationships with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Ability to analyze data, identify patterns, and communicate findings effectively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence to influence at senior levels.
• Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
• Highly organized with strong time management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
• Willingness to travel within the region as required.
