Senior Payroll Specialist

At Sonos we want to create the ultimate listening experience for our customers and know that it starts by listening to each other. This role is a hybrid position, allowing for a combination of remote work and in-office collaboration. Qualified applicants must live within commuting distance of our Glasgow office location and should expect to be in the office approximately 3 days per week.

What You’ll Do

  • End-to-End Payroll: Manage payroll processing for the EMEA region leveraging CloudPay, ensuring alignment with Workday data, accuracy of employee pay, and compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Vendor Governance: Serve as the primary point of contact with CloudPay and in-country providers; monitor SLAs, escalate and resolve issues, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Systems & Integrations: Oversee payroll integrations between Workday and CloudPay; ensure data accuracy and troubleshoot discrepancies.
  • Compliance & Controls: Maintain rigorous compliance with local payroll, tax, and social security legislation; ensure GDPR-compliant data handling; support audits and statutory filings.
  • Employee Experience: Act as a trusted point of contact for payroll queries; communicate clearly with employees regarding pay, deductions, and compliance.
  • Process Optimization: Lead initiatives to streamline payroll processes, introduce automation, and implement best practices across jurisdictions.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with People, Finance, and Legal to ensure payroll accuracy, timely accounting reconciliations, and compliance with company policies.
  • Project Leadership: Support global payroll projects, CloudPay enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Operations and Compliance Liaison: Support the Global Business Services team in carrying out operational and compliance activities within the region, including accounting and finance operations, compliance reporting, policy guidance, etc.

What You’ll Need

Basic Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study.
  • 5+ years of payroll experience, with proven multi-country payroll ownership in EMEA.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll regulations in at least two of our larger EMEA countries (e.g., Netherlands, France, and/or UK).
  • Direct experience with Workday (HCM) and CloudPay (or similar international payroll platforms) required.
  • Demonstrated success in managing vendor relationships and enforcing SLAs.
  • Solid understanding of payroll accounting, reconciliations, and compliance (tax, social security, GDPR).
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills; fluent in English (plus German, French, or Dutch preferred).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a multinational or tech-driven environment is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with payroll process automation, system integrations, or global payroll transitions.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and ability to influence stakeholders across People, Finance, and Legal functions.
  • Data-driven mindset, comfortable preparing reconciliations and insights for leadership.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, scaling environment while maintaining compliance and accuracy.
