Overview Of The Role

We are looking for an AGL Engineer with professional experience to join our aviation team, based in the UK. The role focuses on the design of AGL elements of Airfield Engineering projects, covering AGL and Movement Area Guidance (MAG) signage layouts, pit and duct design, cabling design, approach lighting design, PAPI design, and High Mast Lighting (HML) design in accordance with appropriate design standards.

Responsibilities

• Support Senior and Principal Airfield Engineers in the development of Airfield designs for airports in the UK and worldwide.
• Lead or support in a senior capacity in the preparation of AGL and MAG design projects.
• Understand pertinent design standards across Civil and Military domains and keep abreast of updates.
• Analyse existing baseline, survey and as-built information.
• Undertake design of AGL and MAG for Runways, Taxiways, Aprons, service roads, etc.
• Assist in the production of Civil 3D Design of AGL and MAG related assets for airfield projects.
• Coordinate AGL designs with other disciplines including pavement engineering, structural engineering, etc.
• Prepare adequate specifications for AGL, MAG and HML works.
• Develop feasible, logical and efficient work phasing proposals for construction works.
• Conduct electrical works design and design reviews covering all stages of design.
• Prepare methodologies, design proposals, resources estimation for bid preparation.
• Visit airfields in the UK and overseas to monitor construction works and produce progress reports.

Candidate Specification

• A degree in Electrical Engineering or a degree that includes elements of Electrical Engineering.
• The right to work in the UK.
• Fluency in English – knowledge of other languages will be valued as an advantage.
• Demonstrable professional experience in AGL, MAG and HML Design.

• Proficient in Word, PowerPoint and Excel (Power BI desirable).
• Competent in the use of AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D. Other software including AviPlan, Infraworks, Navisworks, Revit and/or 3D visualisation tools will be favourably considered.
