The Opportunity
Arup’s Air Quality team operates as a national practice, sharing resources and projects effectively across our UK-based team offices. Due to a growing pipeline of work, we are looking for an experienced Senior/ Principal Air Quality Consultant to join our National team in the UK, based in one of our London, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Newcastle or Leeds offices. The ideal candidate will have a strongly commercial outlook and demonstrable technical expertise in atmospheric dispersion modelling, infrastructure planning, industrial air pollution and air quality monitoring. In this role you will lead a wide range of air quality projects as part of a multidisciplinary team or as standalone projects. Provide high quality technical consultancy and advisory support to clients, lead the delivery of projects on time and to budget, lead technical air quality assessments and reports, support site visits, and provide technical and pastoral support to junior members of the team.
What we’re looking for
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant subject.
- Member of the Institute of Air Quality Management (IAQM) and Institution of Environmental Science (IES). Chartered status with IAQM/IES or actively working towards it is desirable.
- Demonstrable track record of leading and managing a wide range of air quality projects in terms of scale and sector.
- Highly competent using air quality dispersion software (e.g. ADMS, AERMOD) together with pre‑ and post‑processing analysis. Proficient in GIS and data visualisation tools (OpenAir, PowerBI, etc). Python is desirable as well as undertaking carbon assessments.
- Full UK/EU driving licence.
