We're looking for a Senior Product Manager to help us make a difference to our planet.

As our Senior Product Manager, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work.

Our opportunity is full time, 37 hours per week, but we would also consider applicants wishing to work a minimum of 28 hours per week. Our people are at the heart of what we do and we'll do our best to agree a working pattern that works for everyone.

Whilst this is a 12-month temporary position, there is potential for it to develop into a permanent position.

Your world of expertise

As a Senior Product Manager, you'll lead the management and lifecycle of innovative user-centred products. Our work transforms cutting edge science and innovation into products and services that enable our users to consume and interrogate supercomputer data in ways that meet their needs, ultimately helping them to make better decisions to stay safe and thrive.

You'll be joining our Product Delivery team who are responsible for a diverse portfolio of products, ranging from contractual services for Defence and Civil Aviation, to government funded offerings for UK citizens, media, and resilience communities. Our Product Delivery team also build tools for meteorologists, deliver international services, and manage data products that support environmental and climate insights.

Our Senior Product Manager role is within the Government Digital and Data (GDaD) profession, adopted by the Met Office as guidance to ways of working to ensure our public digital services meet government standards

  • Lead the strategy for a portfolio of products through all stages of the lifecycle, balancing technical feasibility, organisational strategy, market insights, constraints, and stakeholder expectations to deliver measurable value.
  • Define and communicate the portfolio product vision for high-impact products that serve a wide range of users from internal meteorologists to government, industry, and the public.
  • Champion user-centred design, ensuring products are intuitive, accessible, and solve real problems for our end users.
  • Collaborate across teams and directorates to ensure products and services meet user needs, guided by evidence, feedback, and demonstrable business value.
  • Work collaboratively across our established Product Community, contributing to its success and growth across the organisation.
  • Mentor and line manage a team of product managers, including leading the recruitment of associate product managers, product managers and contractors as required.

As our Senior Product Manager, your total reward package will be up to £73,518 annually, which includes:

  • An outstanding Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 28.97%.
  • Annual Leave starting at 27.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising to 32.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) after 5 years and option to buy or sell up to 5 days per year of annual leave.

Essential Criteria, skills and experience:

  • You keep evolving, with proven experience leading the strategy of digital products, balancing user needs, technical feasibility and organisational goals to make data-informed decisions that support the product lifecycle.
  • You're an expert by nature, with experience of aligning cross-functional teams around a clear direction and purpose whilst applying Agile and Lean principles to drive iterative delivery, continuous improvement and customer value.
  • You're a force for good, championing user-centred design with experience of contributing to the delivery of intuitive, accessible products that solve real problems for diverse user groups.
  • You work better together, with excellent collaboration and stakeholder management skills, demonstrating experience working across disciplines and directorates to ensure products meet user needs and business objectives.
  • You live and breathe it, with experience of mentoring or managing product managers and contributing to the growth of the product management profession.
