Responsibilities

  • Ensure customer and business processes are effectively and efficiently adhered to across the project team with a focus on continuous improvement of project controls methodologies.
  • Apply Earned Value Management System (EVMS) performance standards, preferably to ANSI or APM standards.
  • Advance practical application of Primavera P6, Deltek COBRA cost management system, and company ERP systems.
  • Lead, facilitate and plan cross-functional workshops, including schedule development, control, and analysis at programme and account level.
  • Build and maintain performance measurement baselines with well-defined scope, assumptions, deliverables, Cost and Work Breakdown Structures and integrated schedule that is resource loaded and supports risk integration.
  • Lead and support cost management activities on projects, including cost estimating, cost control, change management, cost analysis, activity coding control, accruals, invoicing and expense management; develop accurate Estimate At Completion.
  • Deliver reporting that defines project status against the performance baseline, explains deviations, and assists with corrective action plans.
  • Assist in proposals and change management preparation and reviews.
  • Review, vet and incorporate historical data; ensure working documents and data are maintained.
  • Coach and mentor project team members in a matrix environment; communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Be a project controls subject matter expert within a major programme or account.

We are looking for

  • Significant, demonstrable Project Controls, Planning and/or Cost Management experience in defence or other regulated industries, managing controls throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Awareness of commercial operations and/or prime contract experience, ideally in a SSRO QSC/CAAS reporting environment.
  • Understanding of project management / project business context; experience with EVMS processes within an EVM system.
  • Advanced user of Oracle Primavera P6.
  • Experience using cost management and finance systems.
  • Ability to maintain adherence to processes and procedures, even in challenging circumstances.
  • Experience providing training and/or mentoring within a team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and listening skills; ability to persuade and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Professional qualifications in project management or control disciplines and/or membership of a related professional organisation (e.g., MAPM, ChPP, PMP).
  • Security level SC UK (UK eyes only – single UK Nationality) or ability to gain.

Security clearance

You must be able to gain and maintain the relevant UK Government security clearance in line with the job role (SC).
