About the Business Unit

Mott MacDonald’s Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) unit delivers project, programme & commercial management (PPCM) services and advisory solutions across the built environment, defence, energy, water, environmental, transportation, health and care sectors. APD provides services to projects ranging in scale and complexity up to £20bn, covering disciplines including programme management, project management, project controls, scheduling, cost management, estimating, infrastructure finance, management consulting, digital consulting and education, health and care management.

Senior Project Controls Manager (Specialist advisory) – We are seeking a talented Senior Project Controls Manager to join our growing team and play a key role in delivering PMO and Controls services across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure and built environment projects, including major global programmes. If you are passionate about driving performance, shaping strategy, and making an impact, we want to hear from you.

What you will contribute to the team

  • Analytical skills to prepare and critically evaluate performance measures (including earned value) and trends across multiple datasets.
  • Ability to focus on key issues and drive mitigating or recovery actions across the project.
  • Good people management and task facilitation skills.
  • Experience implementing robust project controls processes and toolsets in relevant industries.

Required For The Position Of Senior Project Controls Manager

  • Security clearance may be required for the role.
  • Experience on large-scale infrastructure projects in sectors such as water, transport, nuclear, or defence.
  • Educated to degree level and/or hold a project controls or management qualification (e.g., APMG Planning and Controls, EVM, PMQ, Prince2).
  • Flexibility to travel and work in different sectors and with different clients.
  • Risk management and reporting experience, including the use of ARM.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with Primavera (P6) or Microsoft Project and/or other planning and resourcing software.
  • Create and maintain project schedules aligned with project requirements; reduce uncertainty by adapting project methodology.
  • Project reporting including KPIs; undertake project reviews.
  • Ability to coordinate with other teams and have multidisciplinary knowledge; comfortable working as a consultant in a client environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management experience.

Preferred But Not Required

  • Support project managers in maintaining effective and timely change management processes.
  • Monitor and consolidate project plans; PMO experience.
  • Knowledge or experience using PowerBI.
