Overview

Senior Software Engineer (Content Delivery) at bunny.net. Our CDN delivers millions of requests per second from 119+ PoPs worldwide, and we’re relentlessly tuning every layer to perform faster, smarter, and more efficiently at scale. You’ll work on the backend stack behind our CDN and authoritative DNS, while contributing to Bunny Shield, our greenfield edge security platform for WAF, DDoS mitigation, and bot management.

Responsibilities

• Design and build core features for our CDN platform, with a focus on performance, scalability, and reliability
• Write and maintain systems that process millions of requests per second with low latency and high availability
• Collaborate across teams to evolve our distributed content delivery infrastructure
• Fine-tune protocols, routing logic, and caching systems to deliver faster experiences at the edge
• Contribute to Bunny Shield, implementing WAF, DDoS mitigation, and bot detection capabilities in real time
• Work closely with network and security engineers to refine TLS/SSL, HTTPS, TCP, and proxy configurations
• Diagnose and solve complex problems in large-scale distributed systems and networking stacks

What will you bring?

• Experience building CDN, edge computing, or large-scale distributed systems
• Strong backend engineering skills, taking a system from design to deployment
• Strong programming skills in one or more backend languages such as .NET (C#), Java, or similar
• Familiarity with content delivery architectures and reverse proxy tuning
• Understanding of HTTPS, TCP, DNS, TLS/SSL protocols, and reverse proxy technologies like Nginx
• Familiarity with WAF, DDoS mitigation, or security-minded engineering, or the willingness to learn quickly
• Track record of shipping reliable, scalable systems under real-world traffic and edge conditions
• Ability to reason about tradeoffs at scale: latency vs. throughput, caching vs. complexity, performance vs. resilience
• Strong communication skills for sharing complex technical ideas within and across teams in an async environment
• Willingness to learn, adapt, and contribute to a fast-evolving technical stack
