Pay range

Starting salary from £58,225 per annum, dependent on skills and experience, with an annual increment up to £67,468 per annum.

Full responsibilities include advising on, negotiating, and drafting UK and international commercial and academic/research agreements; terms of academic activity and funding; collaboration agreements; partnership agreements; services agreements; purchase/sale terms; IT and software terms; agent agreements; and advising on legal issues arising from such arrangements, including commercial law, contract law and company law. The role also contributes to the development and delivery of a Legal Services Strategy to support the 2030 Strategy and Corporate Plan.

Qualifications

  • Qualified solicitor in England and Wales
  • Significant post‑qualification experience in commercial law
  • Demonstrable experience in drafting, negotiating and advising on a wide range of commercial contracts
  • Must meet all essential criteria detailed in the candidate brochure

  • Effective date: 15 December 2025 (indefinite basis)
