AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) drives revenue, adoption, and growth from mid-market to enterprise customers including the public sector. The Solutions Architecture team helps customers implement cloud technologies by crafting scalable, flexible, and resilient cloud architectures and partnering with internal teams.

We are looking for a Senior Solutions Architect to join our Public Sector team to shape and deliver a strategy to build mind share and broad use of AWS cloud services within strategic accounts, owning the ongoing technical relationship with customers in the Australian Government community. The AWS Solutions Architecture team works with the Australian Government and AWS partners on architecting innovative solutions for all stakeholders. Our work can be highly sensitive and time-critical, focusing on strategic and operational outcomes. We are passionate about supporting the Public Sector community and will go the extra mile to ensure successful outcomes.

The role involves owning the technical engagement on specific implementation projects, developing deep expertise in AWS technologies, and broad knowledge of how applications and services are constructed on the AWS platform.

The ideal candidate will communicate effectively with both technical teams and senior stakeholders, think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges, and hold or be able to attain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency clearance.

Key job responsibilities include leading customer cloud journeys, solving complex technical challenges, crafting scalable architectures, and driving technical solution discussions in collaboration with customer teams. You will build relationships to understand customers and partners, act as a trusted technical advisor, and help align short-term technology decisions with long-term goals. You may also educate and influence the broader community through thought leadership, events, and content creation. Finally, you’ll have opportunities to shape product directions by gathering customer feedback with engineering and service teams.

Key Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in technology domains such as software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics
  • 7+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture, and networking experience
  • Ability to lead complex technical projects, possibly requiring collaboration across multiple teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences, including executive stakeholders
  • Experience architecting or deploying Cloud/Virtualization solutions in enterprise customers
  • Ability to create proofs of concept, demos, and scripts from scratch or using reusable components
  • Experience working with Federal government
  • Ability to present to technical and business audiences (training, workshops, publications)
