The role is for a candidate from a structural engineering design background looking to pursue industry‑leading designs within a vibrant multi‑disciplinary practice.

Responsibilities

  • Working independently and as part of a team offering creative structural design solutions.
  • Produce calculations, models, reports and presentations to an excellent standard, on time and to budget.
  • Share work for review by senior colleagues and review the work of others for quality assurance.
  • Present designs at internal workshops and chair external meetings with clients when required.
  • Lead teams, make timely decisions, and create an atmosphere that delivers excellent work.
  • Collaborate with external clients and harness opportunities to engage other internal discipline designers.
  • Inform colleagues of design decisions to ensure company and client objectives are achieved.
  • Prepare fee proposals or bids and competition designs while working alongside senior colleagues.
  • Coordinate work with other project team members and contribute to internal technical development following strategy.
  • Mentor and assist graduates and less experienced engineers while maintaining professional development.
  • Actively maintain an external and internal network.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Extensive building structures design experience.
  • Experience as a lead structural engineer on major projects, including on multi‑disciplinary design teams.
  • Broad design knowledge from working on a wide range of projects and using British, US and European codes of practice.
  • Experience using common analysis software (e.g. CSC Fastrak, TEDDS, ROBOT, ETABS and SAFE) and willingness to learn analysis packages.
  • Experience using common BIM and modelling software (e.g. Revit, Rhino, and Grasshopper) and willingness to learn new packages.
  • Be a Chartered Member of the ICE or IStructE with the Engineering Council UK or equivalent body.
  • A Bachelor’s degree BEng/BSc or Master’s degree MEng/MSc in a relevant discipline.
  • Ability to provide pastoral care to junior team members as a line manager, with a willingness to be an active part of an inclusive team.
