Full-Time | Permanent | Lincoln-Based (Hybrid and Other Locations Considered)

Join one of the UK’s most progressive archaeological contractors and lead the development of a proactive, future-facing SHEQ function.

Network Archaeology delivers archaeological and heritage services across major infrastructure projects – from roads and rail to renewable energy, utilities, and carbon capture. We’re people-focused, safety-driven, and environmentally conscious, with a strong presence across the UK and growing links in Germany.

We’re looking for a dynamic, hands-on SHEQ Manager to lead on all matters relating to health, safety, environmental performance, and quality assurance across our offices and fieldwork operations. This is a strategic and operational leadership role – you'll work closely with the Board, project teams, and resourcing colleagues to embed best practice, support our staff, and ensure compliance with legislation and our IMS.

What You’ll Do

·Lead and evolve our Integrated Management System in line with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001

·Draft and deliver project-level SHEQ documentation (RAMS, safety plans, audits) across the UK and beyond

·Monitor compliance across our sites and offices, investigating incidents, reporting outcomes, and leading improvements

·Drive accreditation and audit readiness (ISO, Achilles, CHAS, etc.)

·Train, mentor, and communicate SHEQ principles across the business – including toolbox talks, staff briefings, and inductions

·Support bids and tenders with strategic SHEQ input

·Promote a culture of wellbeing, inclusivity, and environmental responsibility

What You Bring

·TechIOSH minimum; ideally CertIOSH/CMIOSH

·Proven experience in SHEQ roles in the construction, infrastructure, or related industries

·Strong understanding of ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and SHEQ legal requirements

·Demonstrable ability to conduct audits, investigations, and implement root-cause improvements

·Confident communicator and team leader; skilled in training and influencing diverse teams

·Proficient in MS Office and capable of managing a time-sensitive, mobile workload

·Full clean UK driving licence

·Interest in archaeology or cultural heritage

·CIfA membership (supported by us after qualifying period)

What We Offer

·Competitive salary with progression based on performance

·31 days annual leave (pro rata) with service-based increases

·Paid sick leave, company pension, and life cover

·BUPA Employee Assistance Programme

·Mental health champions across the company

·Optional “Take Two” career break scheme (after qualifying period)

·Annual leave purchase scheme

·Full support for relevant professional memberships (CIfA etc.)

Location & Culture

Our central office is in Lincoln – a vibrant, historic, and affordable cathedral city with excellent schools, universities, transport links, and easy access to the Lincolnshire Wolds and coastline. We offer a flexible, hybrid working environment and are open to applications from candidates based at or near our other UK offices.
