Job Title: Software Engineering Manager

Job Description

In late January, we announced that Bridgefield Capital signed an agreement to acquire Philips’ Emergency Care business, which includes leading brands and products like HeartStart AEDs, Intrepid and DFM100 monitor defibrillators, Tempus monitor and Tempus ALS systems, and Corsium and ECI informatics solutions. We expect the transaction to close at the end of 2025.

With Bridgefield’s support and building on our 40+ year legacy of growth and innovation in emergency medical technology, the Emergency Care business will continue passionately pursuing our mission of saving lives, lowering healthcare costs, and advancing resuscitation science, serving public access AED, EMS, military, and hospital markets.

In this role, as part of an agile company with dedicated resources, you’ll have opportunities to join the “NewCo” we are forming, grow professionally and personally, and make an impact in the acute care space, benefiting consumers, patients, and healthcare workers relying on these solutions.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Emergency Care Professional team, collaborating globally to design and develop advanced life support solutions (e.g., patient monitors, defibrillators).

This role involves leading the development and maintenance of embedded software for EC Pro products, working closely with internal teams and external partners. You will oversee the entire software lifecycle, emphasizing quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Technical leadership and oversight: Support the formulation and implementation of software vision, strategy, and direction to meet customer needs. Act as a hands-on technical leader within the team, providing guidance and support.
  2. Team management: Build and maintain competencies, foster continuous improvement and innovation, and create an inclusive, collaborative environment.
  3. Embedded Software Development: Lead design, development, and sustainment of embedded software with cross-functional teams.
  4. System and Software Support: Oversee support for customer issues, investigations, defect resolution, and lifecycle management.
  5. Process and Documentation: Contribute to software process controls, design documentation, risk management, and CAPA activities, understanding QMS requirements.
  6. Engineering Excellence: Apply rigorous engineering practices, focusing on design reviews, decision-making, problem-solving, verification, risk management, and safety.
  7. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to standards like IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-2-xx, IEC 62304, and necessary quality procedures for regulatory approvals.
  8. Cross-functional Collaboration: Foster relationships across R&D, PMO, product management, operations, regulatory, and quality teams, coordinating with software subcontractors.
  9. Partnerships and execution: Collaborate effectively with partners, ensuring efficient and predictable progress.
