Overview

Software Engineering Lead is wanted by a Global Insurance organisation to shape the future of software delivery across a Microsoft / Full Stack environment. This is a strategic, hands-off leadership role focused on modernising engineering practices, mentoring teams, and delivering secure, scalable solutions that power real business impact.

Ideally you’ll come from a background of managing both internal engineering teams and third-party resources. Building strategic partnerships with suppliers to scale capabilities as needed. Taking responsibilities for driving standards and ensuring the latest technology and best practices are being used.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead the design and delivery of software engineering services across enterprise platforms.
• Manage third-party suppliers and flex resourcing to match business demand.
• Define engineering standards, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
• Champion modern architecture – from APIs to microservices to cloud-native solutions.
• Build and mentor high-performing teams and foster a culture of innovation.
• Collaborate with product, infrastructure, and architecture teams to align on priorities.

What You’ll Bring:

• Proven experience leading software engineering teams in complex, regulated environments.
• Strong technical background with Microsoft stack, Azure DevOps, GitHub/GitLab.
• Ability to navigate legacy systems while driving modern engineering practices.
• Skilled in stakeholder engagement – from engineers to execs.
