Solutions Architect – Payments (12-Month Contract)

We’re looking for an experienced Solutions Architect to join a major transformation programme focused on modernising payments systems. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract offering the chance to shape the architecture of a cloud-native, SaaS-based platform handling multiple UK payment types.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Define and deliver end-to-end payments architecture across inbound and outbound flows.
  • Work closely with Product Owners, Analysts, and Development teams to ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and resilient.
  • Influence the technical roadmap for UK payment rails, including CHAPS, Bacs, Faster Payments, Direct Debits, and credit cards.
  • Apply your expertise to modern cloud-native solutions, ensuring integration across multiple applications and data sources.

Essential skills & experience:

  • Proven experience as a Solutions Architect with a focus on UK payments.
  • Hands‑on knowledge of CHAPS, Bacs, Faster Payments, Direct Debits, and credit cards.
  • Experience delivering solutions in large‑scale transformation or modernisation programmes.
  • Strong technical understanding of architecture frameworks, scalable design patterns, and cloud platforms (ideally Azure).
  • TOGAF certification or equivalent architectural framework experience.
  • Familiarity with payment regulations such as PSD2 / PSD3.
  • Experience with SaaS or cloud‑native platforms.
