Island Studios offers filmmakers and photographers access to advanced film production facilities and is part of the Panavision Company, a leading global provider of camera systems, lenses, and accessories.

The Role

We're looking for an enthusiastic Stage Hand to join our team at Island Studios. Working closely with Stage Supervisors, you\'ll be instrumental in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our busy studios. This role is Monday to Friday with a rotating shift pattern covering the studios operating hours of 7am to 7pm. The normal working week is a total of 40 hours.

Your responsibilities

  • Collaborating effectively with head office, clients, crew, and kitchen staff, serving as a key point of contact to ensure seamless communication.
  • Providing a warm and professional welcome to clients and visitors during shoot days, consistently delivering excellent customer service.
  • Proactively identifying potential problems, proposing effective solutions, and promptly notifying the relevant personnel to minimise disruptions.
  • Maintenance of our stages, including thorough cleaning and preparation before and after shoots, and painting cyclorama walls.
  • Conducting regular inspections of stages and supporting areas, proactively identifying and reporting any damage to ensure swift repairs and a safe working environment.
  • Safely operating plant machinery (including forklifts, scissor lifts, genie booms, and sweepers) following company training protocols.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of communal areas, including coffee bays, hallways, and production offices.
  • Efficiently managing incoming and outgoing deliveries and couriers, and the collection of equipment.
  • Accurately completing necessary reports and job sheets.
  • Maintaining clear communication with studio security personnel to ensure the safety and security of the premises.
  • Being on-call if necessary, providing flexible support to our team and clients.

What you\'ll bring to the role

  • Demonstrable experience in a fast-paced customer-facing role, ideally within a creative studio, film/TV production, events, or a related field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to confidently build rapport with clients and colleagues.
  • Strong organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively in a busy environment.
  • A proactive and solution-oriented mindset, able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A positive and enthusiastic attitude, with a genuine willingness to learn and contribute to the overall success of the studio.
  • Valid driver\'s license for occasional driving of company vehicles (desirable).
