Role purpose

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Supplier Relationship Manager to join our Procurement team at Bupa. This is a key role that involves responsibility for maximising the in-contract relationship from Bupa’s strategic suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Onboard suppliers post contract award, manage suppliers against the Supplier Management Framework, and build and maintain ongoing relationships with suppliers.
  • Lead regular governance review meetings with strategic suppliers to review supplier performance against contract, including SLA performance, cost reductions, continuous improvement opportunities and quality of service. Ensure suppliers fulfil FCA compliance (where applicable).
  • Own and manage supplier risk profile to manage and mitigate supply chain risks, reducing the risk of financial or reputational damage. Undertake due diligence and assurance reviews with suppliers. Resolve operational and service incidents with root cause analysis and implemented improvements.
  • Drive the strategy of the category, collaborating with suppliers and internal stakeholders to drive innovation, efficiencies, business development opportunities and generate additional value for both parties, ensuring Bupa is a customer of choice.
  • Lead internal reviews with key stakeholders to identify business needs and tangible service improvements and translate them into relationship development plans with suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain plans to prioritise and implement continuous improvement in terms of service, cost, risk and flexibility.
  • Instigate and develop action plans to remedy poor supplier performance and manage these plans through to successful conclusion. Ensure smooth implementation of service improvement projects and handover to operational business stakeholders.
  • Lead market scanning and benchmarking to monitor the direction of the supply market, ensure competitiveness of the supply base and shape the category strategy.
  • Provide regular Management Information reports and updates to the business stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.

Key Skills / Qualifications

  • Experience in contract supplier management
  • Experience in managing supplier requirements set out in the FCA (SYSC 8/13) and PRA handbook
  • Experience in supplier assurance and audit
  • Knowledge of working with and managing outsourced Service Providers
  • Good knowledge of supply chain processes and improvement tools and techniques
  • Professional Procurement or Risk Management qualifications
  • Good understanding of risk management frameworks and compliance activities
  • Knowledge and experience of contract terms and conditions with emphasis on drafting schedules
  • Strong commercial awareness with a demonstrable record of value-based delivery

Desirable skills / Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to understand and communicate risk posture and remediation paths
  • Analysis, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Ability to communicate complex topics efficiently and effectively
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of the organisation
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Experience of building and maintaining effective relationships at all levels
  • Practical understanding of relevant regulatory environment
