We are passionate about enabling the group to deliver against our environmental strategy ambitions, protect nature and support the UK’s ambition to be Net Zero by 2050.We are a high profile, impactful team within the Supply Chain & Technology Sustainability Team, part of Group Sourcing & Supplier Management. We focus on improving sustainability impacts of our supply chain, including reducing supplier carbon emissions and ensuring suppliers meet ESG requirements around ethics, modern slavery, human rights and nature.The role supports how we improve assessment and compliance of our suppliers (new and existing) against evolving ESG requirements, aligning with the Group’s Sustainability strategy and the ambition to reduce supply chain emissions by 50% by 2030, on the path to net zero by 2050. The broader team has accountability for Sustainability for the Group Chief Operating Office, providing exposure to activity to improve sustainability of technology and data.You will look after the ESG risk lifecycle including establishing risk appetite and measurement across topics, and managing tooling and data products that support risk assessment. This includes Climate and Nature, as well as Social and Governance topics including Modern Slavery and Human Rights. A key part of this role is owning the Supply Chain nature and circular economy strategy and reporting, including LEAP assessments and reporting against our zero-waste pledge.Key responsibilitiesBring together existing risk frameworks into one cohesive ESG risk lifecycle and document key methodologies and criteria for managing riskIdentify data or tooling gaps essential to optimize ESG risk assessment and partner with internal/external teams to implement improvementsBuild relationships with stakeholders responsible for setting/updating risk appetite and establish a process for maintaining the approachDesign a streamlined approach to regularly assess suppliers for ESG risk, with automation where possibleComplete Nature LEAP assessment in partnership with central Nature teamOwn strategy for Nature, including evolving commitments and supplier approachOwn reporting against the technology element of the Zero Waste pledge to meet regulatory expectationsWhat you’ll needUnderstanding of the external ESG regulatory landscape and frameworksExperience with materiality assessments or other ESG risk assessments and ongoing management of ESG riskUnderstanding of Nature/Biodiversity and its role in Climate Transition planningCollaboration: management of multiple relationships across the business to deliver on projects simultaneouslyCommunication: excellent verbal and written skills with ability to tailor messaging for different audiencesProject Delivery: track record of delivering in a fast-paced environment across multiple projectsData Analysis: ability to interpret data and use it to prioritise actions to reduce carbon emissionsNice to have: Experience working within a team focused on sourcing or supply chain managementWorking For UsOur ambition is to be the leading UK business for diversity, equity and inclusion, and to create an environment where everyone can thrive, learn and develop.
