Senior Accountant - Tax (Fully Remote, Flexible Hours)

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Accountant (Tax) to join a global finance team. This role is fully remote with flexible working hours, offering the opportunity to work across international tax matters and contribute to the ongoing growth and scalability of the company's operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage direct and indirect tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring accurate and timely VAT, sales tax, and corporate filings.
  • Maintain compliance processes using tax technology tools and external advisors.
  • Lead initiatives to automate and scale global tax processes through technology and best practices.
  • Partner with external tax advisors and internal stakeholders to ensure risks and tax advice are clearly communicated.
  • Act as the main point of contact for third-party tax calculation software providers and advisors.
  • Reconcile internal reporting data to filed returns and support testing of tax calculations for new product features.
  • Provide finance input into customer-facing tax content and respond to VAT/indirect tax queries.
  • Manage tax notices, audits, and partner with legal/product teams to evaluate tax implications of new offerings.
  • Ensure direct and indirect tax items are properly reflected in audited financial statements, including ownership of workpapers and journal entries.

About You

  • Based in the UK or EU (preferred).
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Taxation, with an active CPA (or equivalent) qualification.
  • 4+ years of experience in indirect tax, particularly EU VAT, international indirect tax, and/or corporate tax compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of UK/EU VAT regimes, OSS/IOSS, and digital goods tax application.
  • Experience with tax platforms such as Avalara or Vertex is advantageous.
  • Skilled at translating complex tax matters for non-finance colleagues.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with marketplace facilitator rules, digital products, or E-commerce is highly desirable.
