Overview

We are looking for a strategic and commercially minded Tax Manager to lead the implementation of our group tax strategy and ensure global compliance. The Tax Manager is a high-impact role responsible for managing a tax charge and overseeing VAT transactions for a global FTSE 250 company. This role is available on a part-time basis (3–4 days per week) for candidates who are dedicated tax specialists seeking a part-time working pattern. We are also open to applications from individuals with broader finance expertise or interests who would prefer to work full-time. We offer a hybrid work structure where we work from the office or remotely based on demands of specific tasks or personal work preferences. Working from the office is encouraged for tasks that require a high degree of collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver the group tax strategy in line with regulatory requirements and Board approval.
  • Manage UK and international tax compliance, including HMRC submissions and VAT/PSA reviews.
  • Provide proactive tax advice across the business, ensuring compliance and commercial viability.
  • Lead tax planning initiatives, leveraging government-backed schemes to optimise corporate tax charges.
  • Support M&A activity with tax due diligence and advisory.
  • Maintain strong relationships with external tax advisors and ensure value for money.
  • Oversee banking relationships, mandates, and fraud response protocols.
  • Contribute to internal controls testing and support currency and cash management policies.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • Higher Level Tax Qualification
  • Board-level tax experience
  • Expertise in global tax compliance, transfer pricing, cross-border financing, and R&D claims

Desirable:

  • Treasury Qualification
  • Recognised accounting qualification (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent)
