We’re iD Mobile, one of the UK’s leading mobile virtual network operators. We launched in May 2015 and have over 2.2 million Pay Monthly customers. We offer a wide range of feature-packed plans, from super-value Pay-as-you-go and SIM-only deals to the latest smartphones from big-name manufacturers. We’re part of Currys PLC, Europe\'s leading electrical and mobile retailer, giving us the backing of a larger group while staying a dynamic, innovative team.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, energetic and versatile Technical Business Analyst with strong telco knowledge to join our team and assist with an ambitious transformation portfolio. This role is ideal for an experienced Technical BA who is looking for more than a standard BA role and will work within our TechOps & PMO team.
To ensure success, you will demonstrate experience and creativity with a focus on working with system development teams, system integration and solution architecture. We are looking for candidates who can bridge the gap between business-led ideation, requirement capture and technical delivery, setting programmes up for success by ensuring an early understanding of What, Why and How.
The Technical Business Analysis team works alongside Business Analysts to ensure that, from a technical delivery point of view, requirements are well understood, impact is discovered, gaps are identified, and the solution fits the business need and is not over engineered. The focus is on technology and what is required, with an emphasis on understanding the ‘what’ (requirements), working as a team with Solution Architects (\"how\") and Agile Delivery Managers (\"when\"). The team acts as the bridge between non-technical business requirements, actionable designs, and implementation-ready user stories to ensure successful delivery. To succeed you will be comfortable speaking the 3 languages of business, architecture, and technical delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Performing structured analysis to ensure the full impact of change is understood (for example documenting current and future technical processes, data flow diagrams and data models)
- Understanding and reviewing requirements, business and non-functional, and providing healthy challenge
- Contribute to solution proposals and architecture, identify areas of concern and work to resolve these with the wider team, challenge solutions and suggest alternatives where a simpler option could be utilised
- Work within a collaborative team, in conjunction with Enterprise and Solution Architecture, ensuring that we have technical solutions and Architectural artefacts that deliver the requirements
- Assessing the technical impacts, plus business or change impacts, that are a result of the proposed solutions and integrations
- Contributing to epics and stories for key programmes ensuring that the engineering teams are working to actionable requirements
- Collaborating with the business, SMEs, Delivery, Architects and technical delivery teams to clarify requirements and ensure successful implementation
- Have awareness of the wider Currys architecture and future technical vision and how suggested solutions may be impacted by these
- Evaluating whether a project or programme requires detailed early attention using standard evaluation techniques (e.g. Size, Complexity, Integrations)
- Facilitate early-stage estimation and ensure that Assumptions, Blockers, Clarifications and Dependencies are documented and resolved
- Building and managing excellent working relationships with our business users, delivery teams, architecture teams and technical delivery teams ensuring collaborative working
- Delivering to agreed timescales, planning and driving work through the different phases of projects
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in telecoms, particularly within the MVNO business unit
- Strong understanding of commercial agreements, pricing strategies, and trading terms
- Experience in launching new commercial partnerships from concept to execution
- Ability to develop and execute channel strategies that align with broader business goals
- Comfortable working with performance data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement
- Familiarity with telecoms compliance requirements (e.g., Ofcom, SIM registration, GDPR)
- Consistently exhibits core competencies of strategic thinker, trusted adviser, clear communicator, analytical thinker, problem solver and knowledge sharer
- Exposure to digital and omnichannel strategies for partner engagement and performance tracking
- Confident reviewing and commenting on technical designs, solution architecture and integrations
- Be at ease with unknowns and able to ‘park’ the unknown or make an assumption
- Proficient knowledge of Agile processes, writing User Stories and Acceptance criteria
- Experience with the full SDLC
- Experience of and passion to deliver an exceptional service with a clear focus on delivering results, working to targets, reviewing and adapting plans
- Experience of Atlassian suite is desirable
Benefits
- 25 days of annual leave (plus bank holiday entitlement) and a competitive pension scheme
- Private Medical Insurance
- Life Assurance
- Fantastic colleague discounts on Tech with Currys and iD Mobile
- Hybrid working (with an expectation to meet in person 2-4 times per month)
