This is a senior role within WSP's Fire Engineering team, involving leadership across multiple projects and geographies, with a focus on ensuring fire safety while enabling innovative architectural design.

Your new role, what’s involved

As a Technical Director, you’ll typically work on a variety of projects at once, from university campuses in Scotland to high-rise residential towers in London, including international assignments. You will run through design information, liaise with other WSP disciplines (Facades, Acoustics, Structures), present designs to local authorities and the Fire Service, and advise the design team on changes to increase building safety.

You’ll be guided through a range of software packages, fire standards, team briefings and client updates. WSP promotes a collaborative culture with regular social and professional development activities. The successful candidate will be supported toward professional registration via the IFE and other professional bodies.

Qualifications

  • BSc (BEng) or MSc (MEng) in Fire, Structural, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience within the fire engineering consulting industry.
  • Based from any of WSP’s major UK offices.
  • Participation in a bespoke development programme designed to provide professional skills and specialist technical development opportunities, supporting progression toward chartered status or equivalent.
