Technical Lead (Laravel / PHP)

They are looking for 1/2 days in their Warrington office

We’re working with a growing business that offers accessible financial products through a high-traffic, customer facing platform.

In order to start building their own inhouse tech function, they’re hiring a Technical Development Lead to own and evolve their customer facing platform. This is a chance to help shape the future of their product and engineering culture.

Build from the inside out - Step into a critical platform, and lay the foundations for inhouse development.

Autonomy & influence – Work closely with senior business stakeholders and take ownership of a platform used by internal users and external partners.

The What?

This is a hands on technical lead role, owning a high volume customer application system that’s actively being modernised with Laravel 12. While some legacy code remains, the architecture is shifting toward clean, API driven services.

You’ll run stand-ups, allocate work, mentor others, and work closely with a small outsourced team and internal stakeholders. You’ll also have a real voice in system architecture, ways of working, and long-term tech strategy.

Key Things You’ll Be Doing

• Taking ownership of the core Laravel based application platform
• Collaborating with a small team of external developers and a business analyst
• Running sprint planning, task prioritisation, and day to day delivery
• Creating documentation, surfacing risks, and guiding architectural improvements
• Acting as a key link between tech and the wider business (including C-suite)

What You’ll Bring

Proven hands-on experience with Laravel, PHP, and MySQL

Comfortable working across the full stack

Strong communicator with a commercial mindset

Experience leading projects or Agile ceremonies (line management not essential)

A proactive approach- someone who enjoys improving systems and shaping teams
