Overview

Technical Project Manager – Hybrid – Permanent – Electrical/Controls/DCS/Instrumentation – £50-60k

Samuel Frank is representing a growing consultancy business in Stockport that is looking to appoint a Technical Project Manager. This is a newly created role designed to take ownership of project delivery and introduce a layer of management within the team, ultimately freeing up the Director to focus on business development.

The Technical Project Manager role isn’t a standard project management position. The successful Project Manager will be hands-on with technical project delivery, while also stepping into a leadership role that brings more structure to the business. With the potential to grow into a “second-in-command” capacity, this role is ideal for someone who is looking for a long-term move with real progression.

Responsibilities

  • Leading technical projects end-to-end, ensuring successful delivery across time, scope, and budget
  • Acting as a customer-facing lead, managing accounts and building strong client relationships
  • Providing management support to a team of Engineers, helping to develop processes and improve efficiency
  • Working closely with the Director on both delivery and business growth strategy

Requirements

  • Solid technical knowledge in areas such as EC&I, DCS, PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems
  • Experience in an engineering consultancy or system integration environment
  • Proven ability to manage delivery while also developing and supporting a team
  • Excellent communication skills and commercial awareness
  • Someone ambitious, with the appetite to grow into a more senior leadership role
  • A Technical Project Manager who is used to working for a small to medium sized company or someone who is open to that is key.

The setup

  • Hybrid working: office-based in Stockport on Mondays and some Wednesdays (with more on-site presence during the initial period), then home or client site the rest of the week
  • A consultancy model (not a pure systems integrator), currently evolving its service offering
  • Standard working week with no expectation of overtime — the company places a high value on work-life balance

The office work is commutable from places such as Manchester, Liverpool, Stockport, Oldham, Denton, Wilmslow, Altrincham, Warrington, Rochdale and Knutsford.
