Strategic Capability Lead (Government Digital & Data) - Product, Delivery, Architecture & IT Ops at UK Home Office
As a Technology Delivery Manager, you will be accountable for the performance of a team and the delivery of technology products and services. You will set up your team for success and represent them to stakeholders and suppliers, building successful relationships across and beyond the organisation. You will find and remove blockers and inefficiencies, using data to continually push for better ways of working, leading to better outcomes.
Joining the Home Office Technology Delivery community, you will share knowledge and experience with colleagues across the department and wider Government, building skills and helping to apply good practice and standards. You will support the UK’s security and prosperity through the products and services that you help to deliver.
Within DDaT, Data Services & Analytics (DSA) is one of the most advanced data analytics centres in Government. DSA sits at the heart of the Home Office’s transformation into a data driven department.
DSA designs, builds and operates services that are critical in helping the department achieve its mission. In this role, you will be responsible for business-critical data analysis, data matching and data insight products used across the Home Office. Our success in this role depends on our ability to exploit the latest technologies to create leading-edge, world class solutions whilst ensuring they are secure and resilient.
What you will do
- Take responsibility for your team’s delivery of technology products and services, facilitating and coaching in using the most appropriate methods to explore needs, solve problems and deliver. Work with the team to continuously monitor and improve processes and performance.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of realistic plans and keep delivery on track within quality, cost, and time constraints. Remove blockers to the success of your team, involving stakeholders and engaging with governance as appropriate.
- Develop a motivated, functioning team, empowering collaboration and delivery while giving direction and constructive feedback. Monitor the profile and health of your team, working with them to resolve issues.
- Manage risks, issues, and dependencies appropriately.
- Engage with and influence relevant technical and non-technical stakeholders. Contribute to efforts to develop and enhance stakeholder relationships.
- Act as a routine contact point for suppliers involved in delivery. Monitor supplier performance and help to resolve problems with suppliers.
What you will bring
- Understanding different delivery approaches, such as Agile and Waterfall, identifying the most appropriate methodology for the situation, and helping a team to implement and improve processes.
- Facilitating the delivery of technology products and services throughout their lifecycle.
- Creating the best team makeup for the situation and bringing people together into a motivated team.
- Identifying and managing risks, issues, and dependencies.
- Communicating between technical and non-technical stakeholders, and effectively managing stakeholder expectations.
- Monitoring the performance of suppliers and acting as a point of contact with them.
- Exceptional pension: Employer contribution of 28.97%.
- Generous leave: 25 days annual leave (rising to 30 with service), 8 public holidays, and 1 day for the King’s Birthday.
- Flexible working: Options include full-time, part-time, compressed hours, job sharing, and a hybrid model (minimum 60% on-site).
- Learning and development: Access to training, technical accreditations, and funded qualifications (subject to approval).
- Recognition and inclusion: A culture that champions diversity, enhanced parental leave schemes, annual bonuses, and recognition awards.
